December Member Highlight

Recently our fellow American Legion member, Larry Vinson has had some amazing opportunities and accomplishments. In the last month, Larry talked with The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department on how to appropriately deal with someone who has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). As well, as part of his outreach to those in addiction recovery, Larry was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his help at “The House of Hope” in Brazil, IN where he speaks once a month.

This month, Larry graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Doctorate of Ministry in Transformational Preaching and will receive his diploma on December 18th. With this degree complete, Larry has announced plans to open a church that focuses on creating a safe place for people to discuss faith regardless of their personality, struggles, lifestyles, or socioeconomic position.

Congratulations, Dr. Vinson!

Williams Creek Cemetery

Saturday, Dec 5th members of University Veterans Post 360 helped to conduct a wreath laying ceremony at Williams Creek Cemetery to honor the veterans that are laid to rest there. Williams Creek Cemetery had been neglected for several years till Sue Woodford Faulk took it upon herself to clean it up. University Veterans Post 360 got involved helping back in October and Commander Clifton Morlan was asked by Sue if it would be ok to lay wreaths on the veterans gravesite. Commander Morlan stated that would be a wonderful thing to do so Sue and Commander Morlan started planning a Wreath Laying Ceremony. It took a lot of volunteers from University Veterans Post 360 and the community but we had a very successful event. The event was covered by Channel 8, 13 and 59 and aired several times over the weekend. Sue and University Veterans Post 360 both received recognition from Mayor Joe Hogsett’s Office.
