July 4th

As you know this Sunday is the 4th of July. I hope that you are able to enjoy the long weekend with your friends and family having picnics and cookouts. As the Past Commander, I would like to ask a favor of you. Please take a minute out of your day to thank a veteran.

Here are some simple ways to honor a veteran this weekend.

  1. Send a patriotic “Thank You” card to veteran that you know.
  2. Stop by and visit a retired veteran.
  3. Visit the tombstone of a veteran.
  4. Shop at a Veteran owned business.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

Clifton Morlan, Past Commander

Williams Creek Cemetery

Saturday, Dec 5th members of University Veterans Post 360 helped to conduct a wreath laying ceremony at Williams Creek Cemetery to honor the veterans that are laid to rest there. Williams Creek Cemetery had been neglected for several years till Sue Woodford Faulk took it upon herself to clean it up. University Veterans Post 360 got involved helping back in October and Commander Clifton Morlan was asked by Sue if it would be ok to lay wreaths on the veterans gravesite. Commander Morlan stated that would be a wonderful thing to do so Sue and Commander Morlan started planning a Wreath Laying Ceremony. It took a lot of volunteers from University Veterans Post 360 and the community but we had a very successful event. The event was covered by Channel 8, 13 and 59 and aired several times over the weekend. Sue and University Veterans Post 360 both received recognition from Mayor Joe Hogsett’s Office.

Fall 2019 Cadet of the Semester

I am pleased to say that University Veterans Post 360 and Indiana University Police Department will be recognizing Cadet Morris as the third winner of this honor.  Cadet Morris creates a positive work environment for her peers and is dedicated to continuing her academic career.  We will be having an official award presentation on Dec 13, 2019 at 1pm at University Tower in the President’s Room.   Cadet Morris will be receiving a Certificate of Accomplishment and a $25.00 gift card to Barnes & Nobles.

I look forward to continuously working with Chief Johnson and the rest of the IUPD to recognize more of our outstanding cadets for both academic excellence and for going above and beyond the call of duty as a Police Cadet.  Check out of Facebook page for pictures from the upcoming award presentation and more interesting things from our post.
